  1. Bette S. Bergeron, Ph.D.
    Bette S. Bergeron, Ph.D.
Bette S.  Bergeron, Ph. D. is a professional educator, currently serving as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Potsdam.  As a teacher educator, Bette has served in a variety of administrative roles including the Provost and VPAA at Southern Connecticut State University, Dean of the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior at Southern Illinois State University Edwardsville, founding Director of the School of Educational Innovation and Teacher Preparation at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus, and chair of the Elementary Education programs at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana. 

She began her career in education as a second grade teacher in Veazie, Maine.  With a background in curriculum and instruction, Bette has researched and advocated for quality teacher preparation, early literacy education, and effective public charter schools. 

Her community service has included advocacy at the regional and state levels related to quality educational experiences for students at all levels, with a focus on issues of diversity and equity.  A native of Maine, Bette received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine Orono and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Purdue University.
